2024 is gonna be a big year for Slipknot. The band is slowly unveiling anniversary plans around their 1999 self-titled debut album, but fans are mostly focused on the new drummer situation and the ensuing new material. Whatever Slipknot puts out next will be their first without drummer Jay Weinberg (and with whoever this is), and their first official release outside of Roadrunner Records.

In an interview with Knotfest Australia, Slipknot percussionist M. Shawn “Clown” Crahan revealed new music is coming in 2024 alongside some possibly very small shows.

“I’m very excited about this idea of a new drummer,” said Clown as transcribed by Metal Injection. “There’s many reasons for it. It’s not to be confused… it doesn’t matter what the situation may seem like, unless you’re in the band and understand there’s no hard feelings, there never was. We just went our way, understand? There was really no bad things, that’s as much as I can say.

“What I can say is Slipknot decided to you know, move on and that’s what we’ve done. I’m very excited for what we have done. We’re really working hard and you know, there’ll be new music, there’ll be new masks, there’ll be new people, there’ll be new ideas celebrating a 25 year anniversary. I would imagine there’d be some shows that could be 200 people, 500 people, 700 people, 2,000 people.”

Clown later clarified on the new music front: “I wouldn’t look at it like new music like, an album and stuff. I think we’re gonna have some fun. I don’t know exactly what we’re trying to do. I know that we just want to do what we want to do, so however it happens, it happens. We’re not going to push it and we’re not going to mold it into something that it doesn’t need to be, but I will tell you we’re having a really good time right now. Some real magical stuff is happening.”

So stay tuned!
