As for the follow-up to their 2018 album Post-Apocalypto, I guess we’ll see what happens? Tenacious D gave an update in 2023 noting that they were working on a new album for possibly 2024, and had a whole covers record that you will very likely never hear.

“We have to finish the new record,” said Tenacious D co-guitarist and vocalist Kyle Gass in the interview. “We’ve been working on it, we have a very strict six-year cycle.”

He added: “[It’s a] classic six-year cycle. I think we might be a little overdue … We gotta do it this year. We can feel the heat, but you know, it’s gotta percolate. We got to fit in between Jack [Black‘s] very busy film schedule. But we’re going to do it. We’re going to get it. Publish or perish.”
